Jim posted about my book last December. An update: It’s doing really well in the U.S., now a best seller at Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/books/13922599011/ref=pd_zg_hrsr_b_1_5_last The paperback edition will be released in August so to clear stock the hardcover is now 45% off list price. Good summer read!
WTS was released in November in Australia and New Zealand by Pan Macmillan Australia. It was recently translated into Turkish and will be released there this summer. The biggest publisher of science and technology books in China, Chinese Machine Press, recently bought the foreign rights and it will be released there, translated into Chinese, in 2018.
Dr. Marvin McMillen, my medical partner in this endeavor and the author of the book’s Afterword, and I formed the Medical Musician Initiative last year and will be doing our first workshop this summer, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, MA, to teach others to do this work. We define Medical Musician as a concert level professional musician with medical training (mine was on the job in the Surgical ICU at Beth Israel Medical Center in NY where I started playing in 2010) who is a member of the medical team in an intensive care unit. I am now the Medical Musician/Surgery Department in BMC, I’m there one week a month, and since February the Resident Musician/ at NYU Langone Medical Center in NY.
We have our first five trainees who will be attending the summer workshop – three guitarists and two keyboard players.
