Welcome to the forum.  It a wonderful site for male and female guitarists.  My daughter Chaconne is also a second year masters student at the Cleveland Institute of Music.  She has just the one semester to finish and was able to pass and get her “comps” taken care of this past semester.  Yay!

Have you taken your comps yet?

Much success to you in the future and keep up the great work!

Hi Jim,

I’m not sure what you mean by comps.
As a performance major, I’m required to give a graduate recital, but I don’t need to take any exams per se at Mannes if that’s what you mean.

Thanks for your well wishes; much success to your daughter as well.

Comps is a short term for comprehensive examination.  Basically they can test you on anything you have learned the last 5-6 years.  Not an easy test.  My daughter spent a great amount of time studying for it.  It’s nice that you don’t have to go through that.  Chaconne will give her second Masters Recital this semester too.

Good luck on yours!
