For any of you that live in the Las Vegas area, I wanted to put a plug in for a good friend, Mel Hallam. He is a classical guitar teacher living on the northwest side of Vegas. Mel studied with the Romeros in his early years. IMO, he is one of the best teachers in the US, very good with young students. Here’s his website.

Hello Paul,

Thanks very much for the reference!

As it happens I have a guitar making student that just moved to Las Vegas, and could use some personal classical guitar instruction—he’s self taught so far. I just emailed him the link.

His first guitar—East Indian rosewood and Euro spruce classic—has turned out very well, and he is now hooked on lutherie, as well as playing.

Cheers,

Brian Burns

Hello Paul,

Is Mel Hallam looking for students? I sent my guitar making student—who just finished his first guitar—to him, and he has responded to neither an email nor a phone message from my student.

My student—Craig Brown—is absolutely dedicated to classical guitar playing, and is one of those young people that gives a body faith in the upcoming generation—he is 30. He would be a delightful student to teach, as he certainly has been for me!

Cheers,

Brian
